Customer Reviews
I got this saw as a part of a kit, and felt obliged to post my review of the saw here because it has impressed me so much. My expectations were not all that high for this saw, and in fact, I didn't use it much for the first year that I had it. After only using it for light duty work for a long time, because I didn't think it would have the power for anything more, I decided to put it to the test. If it couldn't get the job done, I would be justified in buying the latest, greatest corded saw anyway.
I was building a cabinet out of 3/4" oak plywood, and had a bunch of cuts to make. Having to set and reset my guides over and over was getting to be a pain, so I doubled up the plywood to make the job go faster, and give the saw a real test. To my surprise, it didn't bog down at all through 1-1/2" of oak plywood. I'll use this much more often now that I know it can handle some tough cuts.
I couldn't be happier with my Hitachi cordless tools.
This is my fifth tool from Hitachi's Li-On line of tools. I also own the reciprocating saw so I had some pre-conceived expectations of performance. This saw perfroms excellently for light duty cutting, but if you need to do some heavy duty plywood ripping you might want to pick up a corded model.
Pros:
Lite Weight
Includes Rip Fence
Has a built in light
Comfortable Grip
Cons:
For the price of the battery and tool you can get a reliable corded model
The battery suck down is huge when you need heavy duty performance
There should be markings on the back for height adjustment
