Customer Reviews
Those who gave the product unfair star ratings did not know what they were buying. Yes, cordless saws do not have as much power as corded saws. And yes, cordless saws are more convienent than corded saws. Keep that rule of thumb in mind when purchasing and utilizing these tools and one will have greater satisfaction in their tools as they will not expect things from it that it is not meant to do. For example, the reviewer who was disappointed that the saw could not cut through a 4x4 clearly did not know the specs on the saw before he bought it as Black ; Decker never claimed the saw was deep enough to cut through a 4x4.
I have this saw and it has done just what I expect it to do. I've zipped through 1" plywood quite easily and the same with 2x4's. To those who complained about the product's shortcomings, it sounds like they were expecting a $200 piece of equipment for a quarter the price. I gave the product 5 stars because for this price point it is a fine tool.
In short, do your homework first before buying the product. In the end, you will be more likely to be satisfied with the tools you get and will be less likely to own tools you do not want.
I bought this thinking it would be lighter and easier to use than my 50+ year old heavy duty circular saw. For the most part it does the job but... whoever designed the safety button did not take into consideration folks with small hands. The only way to reach the button is to use both hands - one to push the safety button and one to start the saw. Now I've been using circular saws for 40+ years and to me that is more of a safety risk than a safety protection. I also had to invest in a set of clamps to hold my work that I wanted to cut since I now had to turn loose of the material to start the saw. It's a hastle but if you are stuck out away from a power source the saw will do what it needs to do.
